London Olympic Flowers

These gerbera daisies reminded me of the Olympic rings and that the opening ceremonies for the London games is happening tomorrow!  Although little is being said about the festivities, one of our hort  magazines did report this:  London’s Olympic Stadium – in addition to simulating Britain’s bucolic countryside, replete with synthetic rain clouds – will contain Maypoles representing Britain’s four nations, each topped with its national flower:  the rose for England, the thistle for Scotland, the daffodil for Wales and flax for Northern Ireland.  So keep an eye out for the floral symbols above the leaping lords and ladies this Friday!
